HEALTHY COMMUNITIES

Our strive for impact is to contribute to the development of healthy communities in which all its residents have access to a quality education, safe and healthy homes, adequate employment, transportation, physical activity, and nutrition, in addition to quality health care.

Healthy communities provide the foundation that is needed to improve the economic and social conditions for groups of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common. We want to realize impact in the villages, working at the grass roots, while using a proven approach, originated from the Asset-Based Community Development methodology (ABCD) for sustainable development of communities based on their strengths and potentials.

Realizing impact on health and well being by focus on prevention and health promotion

SENSO Community

IDBH envisions a best practice approach working closely together with local partners, having access to in depth expertise, concepts and solutions from our network of  knowledge, technology and business partners within the Dutch Life Sciences and Health sector and abroad. Whereas needs-based community development emphasizes local deficits and looks to outside agencies for resources, asset-based community development focuses on honing and leveraging existing strengths within the community.

SENSO Community is the umbrella under which we initiate, develop, implement or support  various projects and long term programs, ranging from health promotion, prevention to training programs, implementation of technology or supporting research, with data collection, monitoring and evaluation tools.

Under SENSO Community we have set up a research program to validate the potential value of using the Positive Health concept and tools from the Institute for Positive Health in the Netherlands (Machteld Huber, www.iph.nl ). Positive Health  is a supporting concept that helps us in our strive to improve the health and well being of the people in Indonesia, with a strong focus on prevention and health promotion. For this IDBH Senso has set up a partnership with the HAN University of Applied Sciences. Currently a team of students is performing a feasibility study in the Ling Tien Kung community implementing the Positive Health Dialog Tool into their daily practice.
